Cosmo served as a Private in the 30th Infantry, 3rd Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided at 13 Helena Street, Rochester, Monroe County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on November 24, 1942 in Rochester, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a sheet metal worker and also as Single, with dependents.

Cosmo was "Killed In Action" during fighting in Italy and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was first interred overseas and later re-interred here on September 23, 1948.
