US Congressman. Born in Boise, Idaho, he graduated from the University of Idaho in 1925, then worked as a wool grader, bank clerk, foreman of a sheep ranch and as office manager for a mining company. Relocating to Keating, Oregon, he owned and operated a cattle ranch (1929-50), was the supervisor of the Keating Soil Conservation District, (1941-45), engaged in the real estate business (1951-52) and served in the Oregon State Senate (1951-52). In 1953, he was elected as a Republican to the Eighty-third and Eighty-fourth Congresses, serving until 1957. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he served as Deputy Director for the International Cooperation Administration in Lima, Peru, (1957-59). Returning to America, he lived in retirement until his death at age 77 in Laguna Hills, California.
