Arno M. Roethel, 88, formerly of rural Elkhart Lake, died Tuesday afternoon, April 18, at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center, where he was a patient for four days. He had been a resident at Willowdale Nursing Home for 1 ½ years.
He was born March 30, 1901, in the town of Meeme, son of the late Christian and Anna Ibeling Roethel. He attended school at Millhome. On December 14, 1934 he married Ella Jung in Waukegan, Illinois. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1984. For 25 years he built silos for the late Fred Ehnert, then worked at Tecumseh Products in New Holstein for a number of years, and then worked at the Kiel Foundry until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife Ella, a resident of Willowdale Nursing Home, New Holstein; one daughter, Delores (Kurt) Mueller; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one sister Minnie George of Milwaukee.
Funeral services were Thursday at Meiselwitz Funeral Home in Kiel with the Rev. James Sizelove officiating. Burial was in the Schleswig Cemetery.
