He was born Sept 13,1912 in the town of Meeme, the only child of Louis and Martha Winkel Prueter. Eddie attended Mineral Springs School and was confirmed at St Johns UCC , Schwarzwald in 1927.
On Nov 10, 1934, Edward married Norma Simonsmeier at the parsonage of Community UCC, Elkhart Lake. The couple farmed on Eddie's home farm in the town of Meeme until the big hailstorm in 1967. They moved to Kiel and Eddie worked for the Stokely Van Camp Canning Co until his retirement in 1977.
Eddie was a lifelong member of St John's UCC, Schwarzwald and served in many capacities including on the consistory. He also was custian of the "Liberty Pole" in the town of Meeme near his home, even as a child when he assisted his father, until he sold the farm, Eddie also served as caretaker of the Schleswig (Rockville)Cemetery for many years and as president of the Schleswig Cemetery Association.
He enjoyed playing cards, "tinkering",and spending time with his great-grandchildren.
Edward is survived by Norma, his loving wife of 71 years, of Sheboygan Falls; one son Donald (Karen) Prueter, Howards Grove, ; One grandaughter Lavonne (Nathan) Athorp, town of Mosel; one grandson, Douglas (Collen) Prueter, Mason, WI; and three great grandchildren, Justin,and Sara Athorp and Daylan Prueter. Eddie is further survived by his sister-in-law Nelda Winkel.
He is preceded in death by his sister-in-law and brothers-in-law Theordore Winkel, Florence and Harold Kuhfuss and Hilma and Arvin Wagner.
Funeral Services were held at St John's UCC,(Schwarzwald ) Elkhart Lake. with the Rev Rebecca Johnston Officiating. Burial in Schleswig Cemetery.
