Mr. Powell was born Oct. 16, 1945, in Sharon, a son of
the late Andrew F. and Virginia Roba Powell.
He was a lifelong area resident and a 1964 alumnus of
Hickory High School, Hermitage. Richard was employed at
Delphi Packard Electric Systems, Warren, Ohio, for the
past six years; and previously worked at the former Sharon
Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant, where he was a machine repairman for 22 years.
He was a member of Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage.
Richard was a well-known car enthusiast who enjoyed car shows, swap meets and restoration of cars.
He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict.
Surviving are: his wife at home, the former Constance
L. Serjak, whom he married Nov. 22, 1975; four daughters,
Kimberly A. Powell and Catherine E. Powell, both at
home; Melinda Funera, wife of Michael Funera, Hermitage;
and Laura A. Stoss, wife of Fred Stoss, Oak Ridge, Tenn.; two sons, Andrew J. Powell, husband of Natalie, Florence, S.C.; and Anthony J. Sbarra Jr., husband of Christine,
Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Lynne E. Powell and Gail A. Powell, both Laguna Niguel, Calif.; a brother, William Powell, San Diego, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents,
including Anna Tarlecki Krotenak.
Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage, with military honors by Sharon Honor Gaurd.
