Donald E. Lemme, 77, of Surprise, Ariz., formerly of Rock Island, died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at his home.
Services are 11 a.m. today at Camino del Sol Funeral Chapel, 13738 Camino del Sol, Sun City West, Ariz. Graveside services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross, Sun City Branch, 9451 N. 99th Ave., Peoria, AZ, 85345.
He was a World War II Marine veteran who received two Purple Hearts, a Silver Star and a Bronze Star.
He was a regional coordinator for the State of Illinois for 15 years retiring in 1980. He moved to Arizona in 1998.
He was a member of Crown of Life Lutheran Church, lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans, and a board member of the American Red Cross.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Lemme, Surprise; daughter, Jane Lemme Reeves, Indianola, Iowa; son, David Lemme, Barrington, Ill.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
