He was a World War II Marine veteran who received two Purple Hearts, a Silver Star and a Bronze Star.
He was a regional coordinator for the State of Illinois for 15 years retiring in 1980. He moved to Arizona in 1998.
He was a member of Crown of Life Lutheran Church, lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans, and a board member of the American Red Cross.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Lemme, Surprise; daughter, Jane Lemme Reeves, Indianola, Iowa; son, David Lemme, Barrington, Ill.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
