Emma Henrietta Holthaus, 89, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on April 5, 2011 at the Hiawatha Community Hospital. She was born on January 29, 1922 in Baileyville, Kansas the daughter of Frank and Mary Osterhaus Deters.

Emma was a homemaker and helped her husband on the family farm. She was a member of the St. Leo's Catholic Church, Altar Society, Sunflower Club, Friendship Club and enjoyed playing cards.

On September 4, 1945 she married Cyril Holthaus in Baileyville, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Cyril on April 7, 1998, daughter, Pamela Joan Holthaus, four brothers, Edward, Aloysius, Joseph and Frank Deters, three sisters, Anna Ronnebaum, Marie Stallbaumer and Alvina Stallbaumer.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara and husband Harold Jones of Goff, Kansas, Kathy and husband Gary Handke of Atchison, Kansas and Ruby and husband Harold Heinen of Denton, Kansas; four brothers, Stanley Holthaus of Horton, Kansas, Jim and wife Judy Holthaus of Horton, Kansas, Clint Holthaus of Hiawatha, Kansas and Mike Holthaus of Horton, Kansas; sister, Clara and husband Leonard Krogman of Baileyville, Kansas; sixteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, April 8, 2011 at the St. Leo's Catholic Church in Horton, Kansas. A Prayer Service will be at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday evening at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary where the family will greet friends following until 8:30 P.M. Burial will be at the St. Leo's Catholic Cemetery.
