Frank L. Salathiel

Frank L. Salathiel, 58, a lifelong Independence resident, died at his home at 623 Hill St. Thursday morning. Death was attributed to natural causes.

Cremation has taken place and private interment will be held later at Mount Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Funeral Home.

The family has suggested memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society which will be received at the funeral home.

Frank Lawrence Salathiel was born July 23,1920, in Independence, the son of Henry M. and Katie Louise (Jones) Salathiel. He attended local schools and then served with the U. S. Army in Germany during World War II. Following his discharge from the Army, he returned to Independence where he was the manager of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Dewlin-Dix Post 1186 before joining the Fairchild Monument Co. where he was employed for many years. He later became associated with Prestige Wood Products and at the time of his death was employed with Emerson Electric Co.

He married Doris Thibus in Pittsburg on Sept. 11,1950, and she survives at the home.

In earlier years, Mr. Salathiel was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church and was a member of the VFW Dewlin-Dix Post 1186 of Independence.

Survivors in addition to the widow include one daughter, Susan Halverson, San Diego, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. Robert J. (Mary) Springer, Zephyrhills, Fla.
