"The family record of Strawbridge and Martha Gash Young was copied--apparently from the family Bible--by a grandson, Perry P. Orr, in 1903 in Clotho, Transylvania County, N.C. The original notes are in the private collections in the North Carolina Archives in Raleigh ..." Straub married Martha Ann Gash. Her parents were John and Nancy Gudger Gash ... Straub and Martha settled along the Davidson River in an area that is now part of Pisgah National Forest. Straub donated the land for a Methodist chapel, which is now called the English chapel, after his son-in-law, Rev. A.F. English, a Methodist minister.
