Luis Emeterio alvarado, 80, a Fifth generation native son was buried at Mission San Gabriel Cemetary on july 24, 1957 after arequiem Mass.
In the same church where the first of his line,Don Francisco Xavier Alvarado,Retired Sargent of the Royal Presido of Santa Barbara and Comisionador of Pueblo de Los Angeles, had been buried in 1831, his many friends and relatives gathered to do him thelast honors.
One of the of the old time "Vaqueros"gifter & trainers & handlers of horses in the best traditions of his Sepulveda,Palomares, Lopez & Avila ancestors.Don Luis was also an accomplishes weaver of reatas & fine horse-hair ropes. To his dying day selected the Stetson hat & the trim, high-heelsboots of another era of which, for quite dignity & gracios manner, he was aworthly representatives.
He is survived his late wife Zoila Courtney, a great grand-daughter of english pioneer Michael C. White, also known as Don Miguel Blanco", who first came to Alta California in 1829 and married a daughter of Dona Eulalia Perez de Guillen, a famed cenenarian "Majordoma" of Mission San Gabriel.

He is survived by their three children, Mrs. Beatirce Alavardo, Luis & Joseph Alavardo, 2 brothers: Andres & John Alavardo, a sister Mrs. Mary Corella; 9 grandchilren,43 great grandchildren, 12 great- great grandchildren_ into the 9th generation of Alvardo's. Vaya con dios, Don Luis.
