Mr. Lewis Singleton Rudasill, 78, of Hoskinson Road, Poolesville, died Tuesday, May 26, at Northampton Manor Nursing Home, Frederick. He was the husband of Betty G. Rudasill.

Born Oct. 9, 1919, in Covington. Va., he was the son of the late Rev. Lewis S. Sr. and N. Elizabeth Slusser Rudasill.

Mr. Rudasill attended Randolph Macon College, then Emory and Henry College where he graduated. While in college he was a member of the Blue Key Society, the highest honor in scholastic endeavors.

He taught school in the District of Columbia public school system. He worked several years with the U.S. Soil Conservation Service before his employment of 37 years with the Department of Natural Resources.

He was a member of Poolesville Memorial United Methodist Church for 60 years, and a member of Upper Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department for 50 years where he was on the board of directors for 33 years and held the position of president for many years.

Mr. Rudasill was a member of Monocacy Lions Club for 47 years, serving as King Lion in 1955. For 15 years, he was a member of Poolesville Odd Fellows Lodge 97, serving as secretary-treasurer for eight years.

Surviving in addition to his wife is one sister, Virginia D. Saufley of Martinsburg, W.Va. Mr. Rudasill was preceded in death by one brother, Dwight A. Rudasill and one sister, Elvira S. Ruble.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30. at Memorial United Methodist Church, 17821 Elgin Road, Poolesville. Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, 1730 N. Market St., Frederick Md. 21701, or to Memorial United Methodist Church Building Fund, PO. Box 358. Poolesville, Md. 20837.
