Alameda Baker died at her home in Adrian township. She was married to Norton Baker September 12, 1830 and came to Adrian Township in 1834. After her husband died, she resided at the home farm with her son, the Honorable L. C. Baker. Three years before her death, she became paralyzed and then a year before her death, she had another episode of paralysis. She had nearly recovered when she fell and broke her hip. She belonged to the Universalist Church. In the years before her death, she read the New Testament several times. She selected 2 hymns to be sung at her funeral which took place at Wolf Creek in the Universalist Church. Rev. L.C. Chase of Raisin preached the sermon from Samuel I, 20:18: "And thou shalt be missed, because thy seat will be empty."
