Married June 2, 1874 to Caroline Maria Hamilton.
The father of nine children: Sarah 'Amy', Eva Elizabeth, Minnie 'May', James 'Jim' Alexander, Stanley 'Stuart', Mary 'Ada', Helena 'Lena' Hamilton, Annie Jane & Lila Estella 'Stella'.

ROBERT J. TAYLOR
With the passing of another of our friends, in the person of Mr. Robert J. Taylor, we lose another of our highly respected and much loved pioneers.
Mr. Taylor was born (of Scotch parents) in County Antrim near Belfast in the year 1852. When ten years of age he came with his parents and younger brother James to America, settling for a time in New York, later moving to London, Ontario where they lived for a time before coming to Minden. Deceased was left an orphan at the early age of eleven. His mother died shortly after coming to this vicinity, as a result of an injury received on the boat, caused by a severe storm while crossing the Atlantic. Less than five years later his father was drowned.
In 1874 he married Carry Hamilton of South Lake. They moved on a large farm north of Minden Village and for forty-three years made farming a prosperous and enjoyable occupation until failing health he left the farm and retired to Minden village, where for eleven years his suffering were at times intense, and continued to weaken him until on Monday afternoon death came as a happy release to the faithful spirit.
During his whole life he was a devoted church worker, taking also a keen interest in municipal affairs, striving always for the upright and honorable in all things. One of his chief enjoyments was his social life. He was never happier than when he was extending heart-felt hospitality to his friends.
He leaves to mourn his loss his sorrowing wife and nine children seven girls and two boys: Mrs. Henry Graham, of Minden; Mrs. T.J. Archer, of Lindsay; Mrs. Francis Reis, of Nebraska; James of Twelve Mile; Stuart of Minden; Mrs. Archie Taylor of Lindsay; Mrs. Isaac Snell of Minden; Mrs. Wm. Sedgwick of Sask.; and Mrs. James Brock, Lindsay.
The floral tributes, a broken circle from his wife and family and a wreath from the Board Of The United Church, were very beautiful.
After the funeral services in the United Church, interment took place in Minden Cemetery, on February the sixteenth.

Aged 76 years, 1 month, ten days.
