Sophia (nee McAdams)married Philo P. Pease, Jr. 10 Dec 1863 [Marriage Record Index, Harrison County cites Book E page 364]. However, according to information supplied to Alice Kopp Cox from Jayne Mix Dunn, of Snellville, Georgia, Philo Pease and Sophia McAdams married 9 Dec 1863. Verification needs to be made in the actual marriage record book. After Philo died, Sophia apparently married James Graham, license dated 12 Apr 1883, but date and place of marriage, and recording date are not found in the marriage record book (Marriage Record Book J: 174, Harrison County Clerk's Office, Corydon, Indiana). One might assume Sophia and James married as her gravestone has the surname of Graham on it. Certain other legal documents show her surname to be Graham. Perhaps the person who officiated the marriage failed to have the marriage filed in the Clerk's office, or they married in another county. A search in Crawford and Floyd Counties, Indiana showed no record. And no record in Meade County, Kentucky (per Wathena Kennedy Miller's Meade County, Kentucky Records, vol II, 1824 – 1884 "Marriages", Ancestral Trails Historical Society, © 1988, accessed 31 Dec 2009). A James W. Graham and Sarah A. Adams married in Hardin County, Kentucky on 4 April 1883, which shows "Gent of age, John & Amelia, Father & Mother of lady consenting in writing proven by oath of W L. May." (Marriage Bk E: 168, entry 834) in Hardin County, Kentucky Clerk's Office, Elizabethtown, Kentucky search.asp, accessed 31 Dec 2009. Anyone having information on this couple's marriage or any information regarding them at all will be much appreciated.
