Funeral services will be held at the Edward Feldt residence in St. Ansgar, Friday afternoon at 1:30 for Clarence (Sears) Thompson, age 58, of Lyle, Minn. who took his own life in the basement of his home Monday evening. Services will be in charge of Rev. Olaf A. Langehough. Interment will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery.

Clarence F. (Sears) Thompson was born in Worth county, the son of Halvor and Margaret Thompson on April 20, 1891. He was educated in the rural school of his community.

On October 15, 1914 he was united in marriage to Mabel Spilde. The young couple settled on a farm in Worth county on highway 105 where they farmed until ill health forced him to discontinue. For a number of years he operated a pool hall at Klemme, Iowa, and they then moved back to Carpenter where he operated a service station for three years. In 1935 he and his family moved to Mason City where he drove a star mail route from Mason City to Lyle, Minnesota.

Several years ago he underwent a serious operation, but ill health has caused considerable suffering on his part the past several years and of late had made him despondent.

He is survived by his widow, a daughter, Mildren, Mrs. Edward Feldt of St. Ansgar; a son, Morris, of Lyle, and six grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Sam Thompson of Northwood and three sisters, Helen Sefert, Waterloo; Leona Jenkins, Colorado; Mrs. Olaf Dahl, Argyle, Minn. His parents preceded him in death.
