James Albert Blackburn, 62, of Tiptonville, died Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

He was a plumber, member of Harmony Lodge #184, avid Hunter and Fisherman, he was a Baptist, former Public Works Director and Fire Chief for City of Tiptonville for many years.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Tiptonville Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Don Reel officiating. Burial will be in Tiptonville City Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Blackburn of Tiptonville; three daughters, Melissa Newsom of Nashville, Karen McCarver of Metropolis, IL. and Ginger Blackburn of Tiptonville; three sisters, Betty Honea of Newbern, Peggy Eddins of Mobile, AL. and Daisy Blackburn of Martin; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Thelma Kelly Blackburn.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Burrus, Chris Burrus, Dustin Simmons, Jerry Simmons, Dwayne Haggard and Curt Chilsom.
