WEST POINT - Annie Lois Ward Chandler, 85, died Jan. 1, 2010, at her home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Allen and assisted by the Rev. Carl Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery of Woodland. Mrs. Chandler was born May 15, 1924, to the late Nora Huffman Ward and Julius Eugene Ward. She had been a seamstress for Knickerbocker Manufacturing Co. and a homemaker. She was a member of West End Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Hewitt Chandler on Aug. 2, 1989, after they married Aug. 26, 1946, and two sisters, Mary (Loyd) Weaver and Frances Hank (Roy Jackson) Russell. Survivors include two sons, Boyd Veron (Annie) Chandler, of West Point, and Richard Allen Chandler, of Smithville; three grandchildren, Amanda Chandler, Lorena (William) Huffman, and Kennie (Laura) Chandler; one stepgrandchild, Cindy (Larry) Shaffer; four great-grandchildren, William Boyd, Allysa Huffman, Nicholas Huffman and Devin Chandler; two sisters, Lula Mae Hill of Lagrange, Ky., and Bettie Ann (Carl) Morris, of Mantee; one brother, Julius E. Ward Jr., of West Point, and a number of nephews and nieces. Pallbearers will be Eddie Hill, Clyde Edwards, Elvis Strickland, Leon Morris, Randy Morris, Rodney Russell and Harold Chandler.
