Alva Dean Pritchard, 80, passed away Friday April 1, 2011. Dean was born in Lake City, FL on October 22, 1930 to the late Marvin and Mabel (North) Christie. She was predeceased by an infant daughter and is survived by her sons, Danny Pritchard (Patty) and Marcus Pritchard (Linda); grandchildren, Joshua, Mary and Leah Pritchard. She lived in Jacksonville for several years serving on various boards for helping people, including the Independent Living Resource Center (ILRC), she was appointed by Governor Rubin Askew for a term as a trustee for the FSDB (Florida School for the Deaf and Blind). Also, she was past president for the St. Augustine Optimist Club. She was very active as a Sunday School Teacher at Arlington Baptist Church, 6009 Arlington Rd where funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 6th at 11:00 am with Rev. Joe Newton and Rev. Don Otwell officiating. Private graveside services will be held at the Memorial Cemetery in Lake City, Florida on April 07, 2011. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 5th from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Corey Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Independent Living Resource Center, c/o Dean Pritchard Scholarship Fund, 2709 Art Museum Dr. Jacksonville, FL 32207 or Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, FL.
