Mrs. Calhoun retired from St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, Ill., where she had worked as a seamstress. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill., and the Ladies Sodality at St. Mary's. Catherine was a great cook and seamstress and an avid card player, but, most importantly, she was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Calhoun, whom she married in 1939 and who passed away in 1977; her parents, George and Catherine, nee Weber, Hasenstab; three brothers, George (Virginia) Hasenstab, Leroy (Eleanore) Hasenstab, and Leonard Hasenstab; two brothers and a sister in infancy, Carl, Raymond, and Anita Hasenstab; a sister-in-law, Bella (Harold) Peters; three brothers-in-law, James (Genevieve) Calhoun, William Calhoun, and Robert Calhoun; and a great-grandson, Christopher Handel.
Surviving are her four children, John (Judy) Calhoun, Judy (Jerry) Hoffman, Jody (Tim) Lauf, and Jay (Kathy) Calhoun; eight grandchildren, Jill (Kevin) Handel, Jared Hoffman, Jenee (Geoff) Datus, Kristina, Kayce, Katlyn, and Kinsey Lauf, and Kelly Calhoun; six great-grandchildren, Eric and Evan Handel, and Jack, Jayce, Julia, and Jordan Datus; and a sister-in-law, Doris Calhoun.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the staff of Westfield Manor Apartments, the caring nurses and aides of St. Elizabeth's Hospital, the staff of Family Hospice, and the doctors of Illini Family Medicine, especially Dr. Adele Roth.

Following the Mass, private family burial will be held at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
