Clair "Joe" Penner, 66, of 821 Factory St. died Wednesday in Carlisle Hospital.
He was a retired employee of Keen Leasing Inc. of Middlesex Twp.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a holder of the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars.
He was a member and service officer of American Legion Post 101, and a member of VFW Post 477, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the White Circle Club, all of Carlisle.
Surviving are his wife, Edna R. Miller Penner; three sons, Roger K. of Carlisle, Ronald K. of Poquoson, Va., and Vern A. of Landisburg; two daughters, Carol J. Landis of Mount Holly Springs and Phyllis E. Leiby of Mechanicsburg; five stepsons, William G. Ellis Jr., Richard C. Ellis and David L. Ellis, all of Carlisle, Edward E. Ellis of Siddonsburg and Robert W. Ellis of Bloserville; two stepdaughters, Anna R. Moore of Carlisle and Dorothy M. Schenck of Mifflinburg; three sisters, Margaret Thomas of Mechanicsburg, Helen Bagrosky of Carlisle and Dorothy Miller of Hanover; six grandchildren, 18 stepgrandchildren, one great-grandchild and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1: 30 p.m. Friday in Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, with the Rev. Dr. Mark A. Scheneman, rector of St. John's Episcopal Church, Carlisle, officiating. Burial will be in the veterans' section of Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, West Pennsboro Twp.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
