Newspaper Obituary (Probably from The Oakville Sentinel)

John K. Stoller Dead
Sunday night at 11 o'clock at his home southeast of Oakville, occurred the death of John K. Stoller, one of the most highly respected citizens of our community. The cause of his death was a cancer of the stomach, liver and pancreas.

He first called a physician about a month ago. On February 5, he was taken to the hospital in Galesburg where an examination was made, but it was found impossible to do anything to save his life, and that he could only live a short time. Everything possible was done to make him comfortable and on February 11 he was brought home where his family and friends could care for him. He knew that he could not get well and was ready and anxious to go to his last home in Heaven. He was conscious until death released him from his suffering.

John K. Stoller was born in Canton Berne,(sic-Bern) Switzerland, February 8. 1867: died at Oakville, Iowa , February 21 1909, aged 42 years and 13 days. He came to America in 1880, arriving here April 2. February 2, 1903 he was united in marriage to Sophia Kramer. Six (correction-Seven) children were born to them, all of whom with the wife and mother are left to mourn the death of the kind and loving husband and father. He is also survived by his Mother, Mrs Elizabeth Stoller of Fairbury, ILL.; three sisters, Mrs Daniel Germann of Fairbury, ILL., Mrs Marie Hari, of Portland, Oregon Mrs. Sophie Weisser, of Milford, Indiana, and two brothers, Sam and Gottlieb Stoller of Cisna Park, ILL.

Mr Stoller and family came to Iowa six years ago this spring. Mr Stoller had purchased the farm where they have since lived where he had built a fine home and improved the farm in many ways. He was a hardworking man and spent his life with his family. He was a good man, respected and loved by all who knew him. He lived a noble life. Alike to the friend and stranger, he gave the hand of welcome to his home. All were welcomed with the true hospitality of a true man. His friends and friendships were sacred to him. His death will be mourned by all who knew him.

The funeral services were held from the Christian Apostolic church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev, Spiebinger, of Fairbury, Ill. Interment was made in the Hawkeye cemetery. A large number of relatives and friends from Gridley and other points in Illinois were in attendance.
