Raymond Walter “Ray” Jones

In the early 1960's Ray survived a house fire that could have taken his life. He was living in his childhood home at Everton after his parents had passed away. As he was lighting a stove fire it got away from him and burned the house down. Ray was hospitalized for burns he suffered, fortunately he survived and lived in a mobile home on the same home site where he grew up.

Ray had a number of jobs in his lifetime. He worked in general stores and owned one at Pilgrim for a few years, he worked at Producers Creamery in Springfield and was also employed at a fish hatchery.

Ray married Evelyn Asbell May 2, 1940, Dade County, MO. They were the parents of two children. At the time of his death Ray was a resident of the Dade County Nursing Home at Greenfield, MO. Funeral services were held at Liberty Baptist Church.

Ray was known as "Little Mitt," after his father's nickname, around the town of Everton.
