Actor. Born in Mansfield, Ohio, he was a versatile character actor, best known for portraying military or authority figure roles. Most noted for his television performances, he was a regular on "Playhouse 90", "The Untouchables", "Perry Mason", "Have Gun Will Travel", "Gunsmoke", "Nancy", "Bewitched", "M*A*S*H" and many more. His film credits include "Chief Crazy Horse" (1955), "Foxfire" (1955), "The Benny Goodman Story" (1956), "Edge of the City" (1957) and "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" (1962). He died of a heart attack at 83 in Tarzana, California.
