Funeral 2 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church, Dighton. Boomhower Funeral Home Dighton was in charge of arrangements. Burial in Dighton Memorial Cemetery, Dighton. Memorial to Joy Center in care of the funeral home.

Jean Doris, age 74, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Stormont-Vail Heathcare Center, Topeka, Kansas. Jean was born March 18, 1937 at Shallow Water, Kansas to Paul Franklin and Georgia Marie Daniels Barker. Jean married Jay Doris on November 19, 1971 at Dighton, Kansas.
Jean was a member of the First Christian Church, VFW Auxiliary and Tops Club all of Dighton, Kansas.
Jean attended Shallow Water Grade School and Graduated from Scott City High School. She attended Beauty School in Wichita and then moved to Dighton and opened her beauty shop, which she ran until 1971. She was the bookkeeper in the family business, J. & B Conoco in Dighton and later kept books at J & D Repair, Big A. Auto Parts and cleaned the Co-op Eleavor office. She enjoyed her coffee group, stain glass and ceramics, needlepoint and crocheting and quilting.
Her parents, 1 brother, Roy Barker and 2 sisters, Betty Wise and Blanche Stull preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Jay Doris, Dighton; 3 sons, Richard Hemel and Dale Hemel of Dighton and Craig Doris of Auburn, Kansas and 1 sister Doris Hemel of Wichita, Kansas; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday April 4, 2011 at First Christian Church, Dighton, with Rev. Danny Parker officiating. Burial was in Dighton Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to J.O.Y Center in care of Boonhower Funeral Home in Dighton, Kansas.
