-- ROCK HILL - Mr. Cornell "Sonny" Lumpkin, 49, of 318 Redwood Rd. died Dec. 26, 1994, at Piedmont Medical Center. Funeral is 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Nazareth Baptist Church, where he was a member. The Revs. J.H. Bailey and Charles Kiser will officiate. Burial will be in Barber Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at Robinson Funeral Home.
Mr. Lumpkin, born in York County, was an employee of the S.C. Highway Department. He attended Emmett Scott High School.
Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Viola Crawford Lumpkin; brothers, Larry Lumpkin of Columbus, Ga., John Lumpkin of Charlotte, Palmer Lumpkin, James Lumpkin, Willie Lumpkin; sisters, Mrs. Rozena Crochen, Ms. Vernell Lumpkin, both of New Jersey, Mrs. Annie Lee, Mrs. Hattie Thompson, Miss Corine Lumpkin.
The body will lie in state at the church from noon until the service Saturday.
