Born February 1, 1934, passed March 28, 2011 after a courageous 4 year fight with cancer. He will be truly missed, not only by his family but also by many, many dear friends.
Bob was born in London, England. He survived the V2 rockets and the buzz bombs of World War II and could tell great stories about his experiences throughout the war.
He emigrated to Canada with his parents when he was 13. They settled in Vancouver B.C. where he attended King Edward High School. Graduating at 16, he went to work for Marshal Wells, a wholesale hardware company.
He married and had two children, living in Prince George B.C. where Bob traveled extensively for Marshal Wells. In 1962 the family moved back to Vancouver.
He divorced, remarried in 1970, and moved to Bellingham, Washington. There he and his wife, Anne, bought the Rainbow Inn Tavern, remodeled it into the Beech House Pub and ran a very successful business. They sold the Pub in 1996 and put their energy into property management, investing in apartment buildings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Joan Beech; sister, Dorothy LaBarge; brother-in law, Arthur LaBarge; nephew, John LaBarge and brother-in law, Bill Treadaway.
A service will be held on Monday, April 4, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Moles Bayview Chapel in Bellingham.
Bob's personal request was that in lieu of flowers, donations to two of his grandchildren's school, Whatcom Day Academy in Bellingham, WA, would be most appreciated.
