Peter was a Mormon polygamist; he married:
(1) Sarah Elizabeth Buchanan on April 24, 1876 in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City, Utah.
They had eight children:
Peter Kimball Lemmon, Jr. (1877 - 1947)
Nora Amelia Lemmon (1879 - 1931)
John Archibald Lemmon (1881 - 1882)
Vivian Lemmon(1883 - 1975)
Sarah Elna Lemmon (1887 - 1950)
Rue Buchanan Lemmon (1891 - 1976)
Lela Lemmon (1893 - 1992)
Leo Whiting Lemmon (1899-1958)
(2) Phebe Elna Pierce on December 5, 1883 in St. George, Utah.
They had two children:
Earl Augustus Lemmon (1889 - 1940)
Wayne Alton Lemmon (1892 - 1895)
In October of 1896 Peter moved both families to Colonia Diaz, Mexico, so he, along with many other Mormons, could keep practicing polygamy. Peter and his families lived in Mexico until 1912, when they, along with other foreigners, were driven from Mexico by Mexican revolutionaries.
After leaving Mexico, Peter and his first wife, Sarah, moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where they lived for several years. His second wife, Phebe, went to live with her son, Earl Lemmon and his wife, Ivy Johnson. Phebe didn't live with Peter, probably because polygamy was more actively prosecuted in the States at that time. Phebe lived with her son and daughter-in-law for the rest of her life.
After Peter's first wife, Sarah, died in 1926, he moved to a little farming town near Tuscon, Arizona, where he lived until his health failed. He then went to live with his son, Rue Lemmon, in Pasadena, California, where he died. He was buried in Salt Lake City, Utah.
