Daughter of Isaac Hatfield born 3 Aug 1763 Loudon Co VA d. 1823-1825 Cabell Co WV and Mary French b. 1767 Culpepper Co VA d. Cabell Co WV. Her family is buried in the Isaac Hatfield Cemetery, Ranger, Lincoln Co. WV (see Find a Grave.)

Rebecca Hatfield married ca. 1829 Hiram McComas, the son of Moses McComas and Lucy Napier who lived in Cabell Co WV. It was a 2nd marriage for him.

She and Hiram McComas migrated along with his father Moses McComas to early Platte Co MO about 1839. After the death of her husband Hiram in 1849, the widow Rebecca McComas lived with her son Charles Lee McComas on 4.5 acres sold to them by James Heath and his wife Chloe McComas (her sister in law, Hiram's sister). The family wished to join her son Rush McComas who had migrated from Platte Co MO to Santa Clara Co CA in 1861.Rebecca (Hatfield) McComas and son Charles Lee McComas joined a wagon train leaving Ft Leavenworth KS in Spring of 1863, arriving in Santa Clara Co CA in Oct 1863. The wagon train took 4 mos. .
