Ellen Kenner, 88, of Aurora, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2002 at her home after a courageous two and a half year battle with cancer. She was born October 25, 1913 in Aurora, daughter of the late Emory and Elsie (Walters) Blake.
    Ellen graduated from West Aurora High School. She was a member and served as an Elder and Trustee of The First United Presbyterian Church of Aurora. Over the years Ellen had been active in the Ellen Pauley Circle, Sally Dickey Society, Grace Circle, Fox Valley Chorus, various PTA's in the West Aurora school system, the Rebekahs and Jennings Terrace Auxiliary. Ellen had a lovely soprano voice and was often called upon to sing at weddings and other functions.
    Ellen is survived by her husband, John A. Kenner, whom she married on Christmas Eve, 1935, at her parents home in Aurora; her son, David T. Kenner of Aurora; her daughters, Vicki E. (James) Stone of North Aurora and Betty J. (James) Carter of Tremont, IL.; four step-grandchildren, Steven (Cynthia) Stone of Tierra Verde, FL., Kevin Stone of Hudson, OH., Shawn (Susan) Stone of Oswego, Dana Carter of Waldoboro, ME.; nine step-grandchildren; two sisters, Jeanne Van Bebber of Reno, NV. and Betty (Martin) Olsen of Mountain Home, AR.; two brothers, Herbert (Mildred) Blake of Rockford, IL. and Walter Blake of Glendale, AZ.; and many special in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
    Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-laws, Daniel Blake and Kenneth Van Bebber; her sister-in-laws, Charlotte Blake and Dorothy Blake.
    Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2002 at First United Presbyterian Church, 543 S. Lake St., Aurora, IL. 60506 with Rev. Jeffery Barrett officiating. Interment will be held at Lincoln Memorial Park at a later date.
    Memorials in Ellen's name may be directed to First United Presbyterian Church or VNA Hospice, 1245 Corporate Blvd., Aurora, IL. 60504 or to the donor's choice.
    Arrangements were handled by The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Place, Aurora.
