Obituary:
Paul P. Jarboe, son of the late Hillary L. and Mary M. (Bartley) Jarboe, was born August 18, 1923 in Whitesville, Kentukcy. Paul grew up in Owensboro, Kentucky and attended St. Francis and St. Joseph Catholic Schools and graduated from the public school system.

On August 8, 1940, Paul entered the United States Army and served his country during World War II and Korea. During World War II, Paul was a member of the 1st Armored Division serving on Old Ironside. He retired from the Army as a Sergeant First Class on November 30, 18965 after 25 years of service and was awarded several medals and commendations, which included a Purple Heart.

In Dunmow, County of Essex, England, Paul was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Dufficy on April 24, 1954. They shared over 56 years of marriage together and were blessed with three sons: Charles, Paul, and Terrance.

After retiring from the military, Paul began working as an appliance repairman for R. Weber and Sons and then for Lynch's Furniture and Appliance. He served in that capacity for 32 years.

Paul was a quiet man and enjoyed just spending time with his family. He was a member of the Estill Pummill Post American Legion Post 195, Crocker Memorial VFW Post 4956 and the Order of the Purple Heart. He was a very devoted member of the St. Cornelius Catholic Church of Crocker.

Paul passed away at 12:51 pm, Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at the University of Missouri Hospital, Columbia, as the result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident at the age of 87 years, 2 months and 29 days.

Paul leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Mary; three sons: Charles P. Jarboe (Julia) of Crocker, MO, Paul E. Jarboe (Tracey) of Crocker, and Terrance P. Jarboe (Janet) of Camdenton, Mop; one brother: Thomas Jarboe of the state of Connecticut; two grandchildren: Holly Jarboe and Cody Jarboe; three great grandchildren: Loren, Dyphne, and Ryan Jarboe; other relatives and friends.

In addition this his parents,Paul was preceded in death by three brothers: Joseph H. Jarboe, James E. Jarboe and Hillary L. Jarboe; and one sister: Lillian Barnett.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 19, 2010 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert with Father Walter Reisinger officiating. Guitarist Donna Knapp led the congregation in singing "Be Not Afraid", "Only a Shadow" and "How Great Thou Art". Friend of the family, Joan Bales, read the poem "When Tomorrow Starts Without Me". Serving as escorts were the United States Army.

Burial with military honors followed in the Sunset Memorial Estates Cemetery. Military honors were provided by the United States Army of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Paul Jarboe to the St. Cornelius Catholic Church, the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society and may be left at the funeral home.
