Marian was born to John and Suzanne (Spielman) Gillen. She was raised and educated in Hartford, South Dakota. Marian married William McGuire at Hartford on October 1, 1917; and, they farmed near Beresford, South Dakota until William's death. Marian spent her last years living in Beresford.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her daughter, Dorothy; and four brothers. She was survived by three sons, one daughter, twenty-two grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and three brothers.
