Joe was born to Peter and Kate (Henle) Neuroth. He farmed in the area of Emmet, South Dakota. On May 20, 1914, Joe married Ella Farley at Emmet, South Dakota. After Ella's death in 1926, he married Betsy A. Ness on November 25, 1937. Joe continued to farm until moving to Beresford, South Dakota in 1943; and, he resided in Beresford until the time of his death. His last year was spent in failing health; and eight weeks before his death, Joe went to Rochester, where he received a number of operations. He died in the hospital.
