Born the twenty-second of July, 1924, Arthur Wyndowe Willert Baker, known as A. W. W. Baker, was the son of Dr. John Andrew Baker, a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland. A. W. W. Baker was awarded his Bachelor of Arts in 1873, Master of Surgery in 1875 from the Royal College of Surgeons, Doctor of Medicine in 1887. Like his father, he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland in 1888.

He married Anna Margaret Constance Stubbs on 7 December 1881. They had a total of five children, two of whom survived beyond the age of 5. Please see Anna Margaret's entry for additional family information.

A. W. W. Baker's area of specialty became that of dentistry. He was nominated to the Odontological Society of Great Britain in 1891 and served on the Committee of Conference for World's Congress in 1892. He was awarded his Masters in Dental Science in 1904.

Dr. Baker used his talents to serve his country, joining the Dublin University Officers Training Corps during WWI in 1914. In 1914 he was also the Chairman, Journal of the Allied Dental Societies, and in 1915 was Chairman, Panama-Pacific Dental Congress.

In 1916 Dr. Baker was presented The Sword of Honor by the Citizens of Dublin in recognition for his work in the Training Corps. In 1917 he served in the General Hospital at Boulogne. He was highly published, and was very active as a lecturer. Fellow dental and medical professionals held Dr. Baker in the highest regard.

In his free time Dr. Baker was a yachtsman and musician. He was a skilled cellist and composed several hymn tunes.

A. W. W. Baker died 5 July 1924, succumbing to gangrene at the age of 71. He is buried in Mount Jerome Cemetery, Dublin, Ireland with his wife and children. Many of his works may be found by searching under A. W. W. Baker in Google Books.
