Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon for William Layafette Terry, 94, at the Broad Street Church of Christ with Dr. A. W. Dicus and L. N. Moody officiating. Burial was in the City Cemetery.
Mr. Terry was a native of Putnam County. He married Sarah Ann Pointer October 2, 1884, who preceded him in death 14 years. He is the son of the late Elijah W. and Sarah Anderson Terry.
Mr. Terry died Monday at the Cookeville City Hospital. Preceding him in death were four brothers, James, Jesse, Adrian, and Robert Young Terry; and six sisters, Elizabeth Johnson, Julia Cook, Elretta Lynn, Emaline Burgess, Lucy Mitchell, and Celina Dever.
Survivors include five children, Dr. J. Peyton Terry, Elizabeth Terry Horn, T. Jasper Terry, Dimple Terry Elrod of Cookeville, and James E. Terry, Wolf Point, MT, and 15 grandchildren.
Mr. Terry had been a member of the Church of Christ for over 50 years.
