Rita Reyes y Celaya was baptized at the Los Angeles Plaza Church November 14, 1869. She was the daughter of José Antonio Eusebio Reyes y Villa* and Margarita Celaya y Espinosa (born Mexico). She married José Mercurio (Mercurial) Lugo y Machado at Los Angeles on December 15, 1887, and moved onto Rancho la Ballona (now Culver City and Venice), where she remained for the rest of her life. She died in Culver City and was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery July 8, 1940.
