Peter S. Cody, an old and respected citizen of Licking township died last Sunday night at the residence of his son-in-law Frank Ferrel. The funeral discourse was preached yesterday by Rev. Henry Hiser, after which his remains were laid at rest in the Wilkin grave yard.

OBITUARY: Peter S. Coday
Was born in Licking County, Ohio, Dec. 30.1817. Died August 23rd, 1891, aged 73 years, 7 months and 23 days. Was married to Miss Mahala Hite, Dec. 23rd, 1842. To them were born twelve children, six sons and six daughters, seven of whom are still living. Mr. and Mrs. Coday united with the M. E. Church in 1856. Each remained members of that church till time of death. Mrs. Coday having died Dec. 22, 1878.
Father Coday told his children at different time, before and during his last sickness, that he was perfectly ready and willing to die. He was conscious up to nearly the time of his death. He then fell asleep as quietly as in health.
NOTE: Another child of Peter and Mahala Coday is believed to also be buried in Wilkin Cemetery. William (Wilson?) Shannon Coday b. 18 Jun 1860 in Licking Twp. Crawford Co. IL d. unk.
