born March 7, 1862 & died 1942

J. S. Leuty, 80, Dies;
Rites Saturday

J. S. (Sam) Leuty, 80, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Grace Sumner, near Dix, at 7:56 a.m. today after an illness of several months. He was a retired farmer.

Funeral services will be held from the Harmony Baptist church at 2 p.m., Saturday. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr. Leuty was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Azariah Leuty. He was born March 7, 1862. December 25, 1884, he married Doke Whitlock. She died March 8, 1932.

Surviving besides his daughter are two brothers, Wink Leuty and Alfred Leuty, both of Dix; four sisters, Mrs. Albert Blankenship of Iuka, Mrs. Mary Murphy of Sandoval, Mrs. A. M. Smith of Rockford and Mrs. Rebecca Ellis of Centralia; also 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
