U.S. Congressman. He attended Nebraska Wesleyan University, graduated from Washburn Law School in 1917, was admitted to the bar and served in France, as a 2nd Lieutenant with the 85th Division, U.S. Army during World War I. After the war, he commenced practice of law in Garden City, Kansas and was a member of the Kansas State House of Representatives, (1921-27). In 1927, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventieth Congress and to the next fourteen succeeding Congresses, serving until 1957. After leaving Congress, he served as President of Great Plains Wheat Company, (1959-63). He died in retirement from a stroke at age 76.
