Clergymen conducting the service were Rev. Henry Heath and Rev. L. B. Adams, with burial in Valleytown Cemetery.
Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews was in charge of arrangements.

Nannie Mae Raxter Battle was a native of Cherokee County, NC. She was preceded in death by parents Nelson Raxter and Elizabeth Watson-Raxter and also her husband Shirley Dumont Battle who died in 1992.

Surviving are two daughters, Catherine Battle-Coffey of St. Cloud, FL, and Louise Battle-Heath of Sycamore, GA; two sons, Robert E. Battle of St. Cloud, FL, and William N. Battle of Lexington, NC; 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
