D.C. commonly known as Clem Denney, died Jan. 11, 1924 of that dread disease known as cancer. He had been afflicted for a long while and finally death came to his relief.

Mr. Denney was born on Carpenter's Fork of Beaver Creek. -- years ago, but for many years prior to his death he had lived on Big Sinking Creek. He was a member of the Baptist Church and the Masonic fraternity, in both of which he rendered loyal service. He had a good wife who survives him and several children.

I knew Clem Denney from my earliest infancy. He was a good, law abiding citizen, a kind husband, a loving father and a Christian gentleman. He never made any community worse by living in it, but always better. The world needs more citizens of his kind.

He was a friend, true, loyal and unfailing; and in the busy rush of life duties, as I pause I shed a tear to his memory. Peace to his ashes. Another of God's noblemen has entered into his reward.
