Miriam Ellen Kroning, 86, of Beloit, WI, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011 in Premier Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing surrounded by her family. She was born July 25, 1924 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Arthur and Anita (Vick) Stresney. Miriam was a 1942 graduate of Wheaton High School, Wheaton, IL. She married LeVerne E. Kroning on February 10, 1945 in Trinity Lutheran Church, West Chicago, IL. As a girl raised in the city she became a wonderful farmer's wife for 63 years. He predeceased her on July 28, 2008. Miriam came from a very musical family and family was very important to her. She taught children the accordion and held recitals for her students. Miriam loved to sew and play the organ for her family and friends. She continued playing the organ in her later years as her eyesight diminished. Because of her faith and courage the diminishing of her eyesight was never a detriment. Miriam was a member of the Jefferson Prairie Homemakers and Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church and was ladies aid society treasurer and the council secretary. Survivors include her five children, Sandra Harvey of Rockton, IL, Linda (Gary) Timm of Beloit, WI, Jerry (Mamie) Kroning of Clinton, WI, Sharon Kroning (Darnell) and Ronald (Laura) Kroning both of Beloit, WI; 18 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; brother, Robert (Judy) Stresney; two sisters, Judy (Raymond) Waetjen, and Laurel (Karl) Faulstich; brothers-in-law, Robert (Dorothy) Kroning, and Leon Zarate; sisters-in-law, Shirley (Floyd) Brown and DeLoris Hitzemann; many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Premier Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing, Beloit Regional Hospice and all their staff for the care given to Miriam. She was predeceased by her parents, son, David Kroning, son-in-law, Richard Harvey, sister, Arlene Schusler, and brother, Arthur Stresney. Funeral services April 5, 2011 in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 300 High Street, Clinton, WI, with Reverend William Uffenbeck officiating. Burial in Clinton Cemetery.
