Mildred Marie Brown

Mildred Marie (Lindsey) Brown, 87, of Marble Falls went home to be with the
Lord July 11. She was born July 16, 1919 in Waldo, Ark., the daughter of the
late Walter Booth Lindsey and Lola Cathern (Higgins) Lindsey. She was one of
seven children. Her three brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters, Annetta (Kincade) Hoeck of Indialantic,
Fla. and Winona (Kincade) Rumfield DeLuca Ansbach of Harrington, Del.; one
son, Walter Lee Brown of Granite Shoals; two granddaughters, Rosalind
Wiktorchik of Delaware, Laura Coleman of Virginia; three grandsons, Robert
Hoeck of California, Tony Lee Rumfield of Ohio and Martin Rumfield of
Delaware; four great-granddaughters; five great-grandsons; two beloved
nieces, Donna Kay Baker of Haltom City and Syble Jean Garrison of Fort
Worth; and one great-great-grandson, Shane Rumfield of New Jersey.
"Millie" was a nurse in her earlier years. She gave up this
profession when she married her late husband of 39 years, T-Sgt. James W.
Brown. She traveled with him until they retired in Marble Falls 40 years
ago. In her younger years, she also rode in rodeos. Millie enjoyed buying
antiques and collectibles from individuals and selling them to dealers all
around the Hill Country. She worked in the day-care center of First Baptist
Church of Marble Falls for several years and attended church there as well.
In recent years, she also attended the First Baptist Church of Granite
Shoals. She was a member of the VFW Post # 10376 Auxiliary of Marble Falls
and had served as president. She wrote beautiful poems and songs and was
published in various magazines and newspapers, receiving honors of
recognition for some of her work. She was an avid bingo player for many
years. She spent the last few years in Kingsland Hills Care Center where she
received loving care and made several friends. She will be sorely missed by
her family and friends. Private interment services were held July 12 in the
Marble Falls City Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Edgar
Funeral Home, Marble Falls.
