Gloria Aker Dies Monday Morning

Woodvillians were saddened last Monday at the news of the death of Gloria Aker, 8-year- old daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Russell Aker of Woodville. The little girl became ill early last week, and on Friday was taken to Field Memorial Community Hospital where her illness was diagnosed as spinal meningitis. Early Saturday morning she was rushed to Baton Rouge General Hospital in the Berryhill ambulance using the respirator of the Natchez Fire Department. Captain Joel Reese of the Natchez fire department accompanied her to assist with the use of the respirator. Despite the valiant efforts to save her, death came about 2 a.m. Monday.
Funeral services for the deceased were held.. Thursday morning from the Woodville Methodist Church.. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.
Gloria, who was a third grade student at Woodville Consolidated School, was born in Bolton, Texas and moved here with her family about two and a half years ago.
She is survived by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. R. A. Aker; one brother, Ronald; and two sisters, Diane and Rebecca Aker.
