Obituary for J. Marion Rioth
J. Marion Rioth, 91, of Reading, KS, formerly of Ottawa, KS, passed away on February 11, 2015. He was born April 1, 1923 in Oshawa, Minnesota the son of John Rioth, Jr. and Mattie (Stephenson) Rioth.

Marion served the United States of America in World War II as a member of the United States Army.

After his service he attained his teaching degree from Ottawa University. Marion then attended Kansas University attaining a Master's of Education Administration Degree. He then became a teacher and later Principal for the Mattfield Green School District. He then moved to Pratt as an Elementary Principal and later Derby also as an Elementary School Principal. In 1963 he accepted a position as the Library Administrator at Ottawa University and later attained his Masters in Library Science. He retired formerly in 1986.

Marion was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ottawa, the Franklin County Genealogical Society and the National Elementary Principals Association.

On June 2, 1942 Marion was united in marriage to Vera Belle Shubert in Morris County, KS. She preceded him in death on January 10, 2006.

John was also preceded in death by his parents, infant son, and brother Lawrence H. Rioth.

Survivors include daughter, Malonne Davies and her husband, Dale, KS; granddaughters Dawn Schoepflin and her husband, Bruce, KS, Dorene Davies, Kansas; four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to the service hour, Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at First Baptist Church, Ottawa, KS. Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation at 10:00 a.m., at the church. Burial will be at 3:00p.m., Wilsey Cemetery, Wilsey, Kansas. The family suggests memorial contributions to First Baptist Church, Ottawa c/o Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 14, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
