Buried in the name of William B RENNIE (online cemetery records), this is William BROWN-RENNIE. His parents were William and Jane RENNIE (Scotland) who adopted the name BROWN-RENNIE (probably unofficially and during the family's emigration to NZ), which they eventually simplified to BROWN. But several of their children continued to use the hyphenated name during their lives. This William is recorded as 'William Brown-Rennie' in the 1931 electoral roll. At his death, officials may have not realised the hyphenation and recorded 'Brown' as 'B', the initial of a given name.
