LONG GROVE, Iowa -- Funeral Services and Mass of Christian Burial for Carol Arpy, 46, Long Grove, Iowa, will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Long Grove. The Rev. Stephen Ebel will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Monday at St. Ann's Church, where a Prayer Service will be offered at 7 p.m. There will be an additional opportunity to pay your respects one hour before the mass on Tuesday at the church. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.


Carol died Friday, May 16, 2003, at Genesis West Medical Center after a very brief battle with cancer. Carol Ann Bailey was born January 22, 1957, in Davenport, the daughter of John P. and Esther (Petersen) Bailey.

She graduated from North Scott High School in 1975 and later attended Scott Community College.

Carol married Alan J. Arpy June 7, 1975, at St. Ann's Church, Long Grove.

She was employed in Food Services for the North Scott Community School District.

Carol was a member of St. Ann's Church. She was a Board Member for the CHADD Group of Iowa. She was always involved in children's activities throughout the North Scott area. She took part in a tremendous amount of volunteering for projects for Special Ed Children. Children were a special part of Carol's life. She was always the one there to help.

Memorials may be made to an educational fund to be established for her children, St. Ann's Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.

Survivors include her husband Alan, children, Marquis Arpy, DeMeer Arpy and Benjamin Arpy, all at home; sisters, Shirley Collins, Davenport; Ann Marie Sabel, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; Bridget Delap, Orlando, Fla.; Ruth (Mrs. Ralph) Roesler, Katy, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Basita Bailey, Hagerstown, Maryland; Paul and Denise Bailey, Davenport; Neil and Anita Bailey, Orlando; Donald and Linda Bailey, Coral Springs, Fla.; and James and Diana Bailey, New Windsor, Ill.; and father-in-law and his spouse, Jim and Barb Arpy, Moline.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Monica Bailey, and her mother-in-law, Edith Arpy. May they rest in peace.
