LaHarpe, IL newspaper:
Died.- At this home, 2 miles east and 1 north of LaHarpe, Sunday morning, at 8:30 o'clock, Dec. 10th 1899, MR. JOHN S. BELL, aged 72 years, 3 months and 9 days.

Mr.Bell was born in Noble County, Ohio, Sept. 1, 1827. He was married to Sarah Mizner, June 26th, 1851. Nine children were born to them, six of whom are living. They are: Robert E., Mary W., William Henry, Martha A., George W. and Lloyd D. Three have preceeded the father, Nancy J. Cora E. and Charles F.
Mr. Bell was a man of a social nature, good qualities of the heart and tolerant in his beliefs: respecting those who might have different views than that he entertained. He was not a man to intrude of force his convictions upon another and he held the respect of all.
The fureral occurred Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Christian church, Elder K.C. Ventress officiating.
