Capt. Baldwin was a flight instructor at the Clovis Air Base and was killed in the crash of his B-29 bomber.

He was a graduate of Johns Hopkins University, Class of 1939 and studied law for a year at the University of Maryland prior to entering the Army with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He transferred to the Army Air Corps at a later time.

Captain Baldwin was an Instructional pilot
aboard B-29 Superfortress #42-93832,
serving with the 234th Combat Crew
Training Squadron.

He was one of fifteen airmen killed in a
nighttime crash, 25 miles southwest of
the Clovis Army Airfield.
