Dave worked for various county, state and federal agencies throughout his life, and retired from the Dept of Fish & Wildlife in 1979. He most enjoyed the time that he spent giving lectures and training on the safe handling of snakes and other desert reptiles. He gave training lectures to the employees of the western BLM states, Sierra Pacific Power, ATT Phone Co., EMTs, doctors and nurses. He also gave many lectures to local schools. He was an active member of the Nevada Search & Rescue team for quite a few years, and an avid rock hound who loved spending hours in the desert. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty, in 2004, and his parents and two sisters Caroline Harris and Ethel Smith. He is survived by daughters Mary Jo Wiese, Shirley (Jerome) Buckmier, Patty (Bill) Brackett, 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law Ron Harris, 1 niece and 4 nephews
