Gladys Elizabeth Multer, age 82, of Rowena, Texas, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2006, at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo. Gladys was born Oct. 7, 1923, in Rowena, Texas, to Ben and Frances Moeller. She attended school in Rowena and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1940.

She married Roman Multer on Aug. 5, 1946, in Rowena and remained a devoted farmwife and homemaker all her life. She was an avid gardener and loved to read. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Ann's Altar Society.

She is survived by her husband, Roman Multer, of the home; and by six children, John Multer of San Angelo, Ramona Gratton and husband Terry of Arlington, Marsha Arvedson and husband Steve of Houston, Mark Multer and wife Lou Ann of San Angelo, Tony Multer and wife Norma of Rowena, and Mary Dee Michalewicz and husband Thomas of Buda, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Liz Steiner and Michael Gratton, Jonathan and Amy Arvedson, Lindsey Jones, and Richard and Robert Multer, Alisha, Abbey and Adam Multer, and Rachel, Andrey and Aleksandr Michalewicz. Also surviving are her sister, Alice Wilde and husband Bennie of Ballinger; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in law, Mary Moeller, Alfred and Mary Lou Multer, and Harvey Droll.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Frances Moeller; brothers Edwin, Felix and Norbert; and sisters Isabella Rollwitz, Olivia Schwertner, Leona Book and Cordula Beimer.

The rosary was recited for Gladys at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rowena. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rowena. The family suggests memorial donations be made to Ballinger Carnegie Library, St. Joseph Cemetery Association, or a favorite charity.
